Jane Mršnik began her educational journey at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana, where she graduated with her thesis Seeing Clothing – Multilayered Messages , for which she received the University Prešeren Award. The Be laBela brand , which she founded together with the late Vesna Štih, and under this brand she has been creating innovative textile products for the home and interior since 2012. In her works, Jana explores natural shapes and structures, such as cells and molecules, which are reflected in sophisticated and adaptable products. These products allow the user to interpret them in different ways – as coasters, wall decorations or even jewelry. Jana is involved in the entire design process, from the initial idea to the final product, combining handwork and sustainable approaches. With a special emphasis on modularity and DIY solutions, she gives her products a unique touch, while at the same time offering users a space for creative interaction.
Her work is inspired by her admiration for nature and its complex structures. In 2020, three of her products received the "Made in Slovenia" Badge of Excellence from the Center for Creativity, confirming her exceptional contribution to the Slovenian design landscape. Her oeuvre also includes numerous awards, such as the Mittelmoda P remio Gorizia and Smirnoff, which she received early in her career for innovative textile collections (experimental clothing).
