Jana Mršnik is a renowned Slovenian designer and educator whose work focuses on textile and product design and textile art. Her creations reflect a subtle balance between aesthetics, functionality and innovation, often combining modular elements and textile structures into unique interior products.

Jane Mršnik began her educational journey at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana, where she graduated with her thesis Seeing Clothing – Multilayered Messages , for which she received the University Prešeren Award. She also refined her knowledge in Copenhagen and Florence, where she worked as a knitwear designer for renowned Italian fashion companies. This international experience has been a key factor in her approach to design, which combines precision, innovation and a deep understanding of materials.

Her professional work goes beyond product design. As an assistant professor at the Faculty of Design and an assistant at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Jana Mršnik actively transfers her knowledge and experience to younger generations of designers. Her role as a mentor also inspires her in exploring new design solutions and developing projects in the field of textile art. Her efforts are reflected in her influence on the field of design and in strengthening creative dialogue locally and internationally.

The Be laBela brand , which she founded together with the late Vesna Štih, and under this brand she has been creating innovative textile products for the home and interior since 2012. In her works, Jana explores natural shapes and structures, such as cells and molecules, which are reflected in sophisticated and adaptable products. These products allow the user to interpret them in different ways – as coasters, wall decorations or even jewelry. Jana is involved in the entire design process, from the initial idea to the final product, combining handwork and sustainable approaches. With a special emphasis on modularity and DIY solutions, she gives her products a unique touch, while at the same time offering users a space for creative interaction.

Her work is inspired by her admiration for nature and its complex structures. Cells, molecules and natural patterns are fundamental inspirations that Jana reinterprets into contemporary design solutions. Her products not only offer aesthetic value, but are also practical and adaptable, placing them at the forefront of sustainable and user-friendly design. Her approach to design combines precise technical execution and a deep understanding of materials, which is the result of many years of experience and dedication to the design profession.

Jana Mršnik regularly presents herself at domestic and international design events, among which the Blickfang design fairs in Vienna and Stuttgart stand out. In 2020, three of her products received the "Made in Slovenia" Badge of Excellence from the Center for Creativity, confirming her exceptional contribution to the Slovenian design landscape. Her oeuvre also includes numerous awards, such as the Mittelmoda P remio Gorizia and Smirnoff, which she received early in her career for innovative textile collections (experimental clothing).

Her work represents a bridge between art and functionality. The modularity and adaptability of her products allow users to identify with them and integrate them into their daily lives in a way that makes the most sense for them. Jana Mršnik creates not only objects, but also stories and experiences that inspire creativity.
