At Parada, we have a special love for domestic design. And of course designers. We believe that we should first support what is good at home. That is why you will find many domestically made products on our shelves. We are especially pleased that we have recently been able to present and sell ceramic products by domestic designer Hana Karim in our store.

We have been following Hana's work with interest for many years, as one of the 'paradise women' portrayed the artist's work in the book Workshop Full of Chaos , which was published by JSKD in 2014. At that time, Hana was still at the very beginning of her creative path and was mainly involved in designing unique ceramic jewelry.

Hana's creative beginnings date back to her childhood, as she grew up in an artistic family in Ajdovščina. Her father is a renowned painter Azad Karim, and her mother Silva is an excellent art teacher who, in addition to her teaching work, also focused her creative energies on designing ceramics. Her parents have a joint studio right at home in the family house, which means that both Hana and her brother were constantly meeting and learning about art and creative processes during their childhood, one way or another.

Like her mother, Hana also decided to study art pedagogy, which offered her a wide range of knowledge in various art techniques. However, just before completing her studies, Hana returned to her first creative experiments in her mother's studio - shaping clay. Clay is a very tactile and responsive medium that offers many different ways of expression, says Hana. This is certainly one of the reasons why she never gets tired of it and also why she always finds new challenges in it.

In her early days and when designing ceramic jewelry, she explored the techniques and various possibilities that ceramics convey. Now, having been led into the world of functional ceramics, she is discovering a whole new spectrum of its usefulness. She learned about dedication and perseverance as essential character traits of artists, as well as the uncertainty that is an integral part of their lives, as a child, from her parents, who had to navigate sometimes turbulent waters completely alone. That's just how it is in the life of an artist, says Hana, adding that she and her brother had an easier path because they were always accompanied by the unconditional support of both parents.

Today, Hana lives in Ljubljana, where she also has her own spacious creative studio, so you could say she is living her dream. Ljubljana is a capital with a vibrant artistic pulse. Many artists live and create here, and Hana loves to be part of this wave. Occasionally, she takes part in a creative workshop somewhere outside the borders of our country to meet new artists and gain some new knowledge. Otherwise, she diligently creates and sends her products around the world every day. Her studio, which is a workshop full of order, is practically her second home, as she spends a large part of her day here.

When work is both enjoyable and intellectually challenging, there is no problem with taking an hour or more off from work. Hana is not only an artist, but also an entrepreneur and mentor. In her studio, she organizes ceramic workshops for everyone who is attracted to this medium of creation and wants to get to know it up close and try their hand at designing ceramics. And that's not all. In the evenings, her studio turns into a social space where, as Hana says, a kind of community is created and built. From these social gatherings and conversations, new creative energy is born that launches interesting projects. One of them is Clay Theatre/Glineni teater, a project that she is developing together with her partner, artist Rasfan Haval. It is a heartfelt project that brings a breath of fresh air to our capital and enriches it with performances by local and internationally renowned talents, who line up in the pleasant atmosphere of the ceramic studio in which they create.

You can view and purchase her products here .
