The jewelry of the Dansk Smykkekunst brand is designed by Malene Storm, who is the first creative and creative force of this Danish brand.
The process of her design begins with thinking about what style she wants to create. Her designs are inspired by creative women who know how to emphasize their personal style with small details.
All jewelry is plated with 14 carat gold, silver or rhodium. Silver and rhodium are very similar - but the silver appears to be a little whiter - especially in the matte version. Silver can tarnish, while rhodium is very resistant and stays beautiful for a long time.
Copper is one of her favorite materials for jewelry design. Copper is a 100% natural element and naturally contains no nickel. It is a very resistant material, but at the same time it can be shaped in many different ways. Copper also has a good weight to it – something Malene appreciates a lot, as she likes the jewelery to have some heft to it.
She also likes to use brass, which is softer and allows for the design of e.g. open bracelets, so only these always fit your wrist perfectly. Brass is an alloy of molten copper to which zinc is added.
If the design requires the use of a lot of metal in the design - use a lighter material than pure copper and a less soft material than brass. This is usually copper mixed with tin, in a ratio of 83% copper and 17% tin.
Pearls are in trend right now. Malene always uses real freshwater pearls (never plastic or acrylic beads). Since real pearls differ slightly in shape and color, each pearl jewelry is very special.
For a little more glamour, Malene likes to use crystals, which shine glamorously due to the characteristically cut surfaces. Among the products of Dansk Smykkekunst you will find cubic zirconia, which is an artificially produced precious stone, but it is harder and of higher quality than ordinary crystals. When designing, he often thinks sparingly and uses glass crystals, which reflect light very nicely.
